The physical, etheric (life body), astral (soul) and ego (spiritual) aspects of our individuality
Holistic wellbeing is achieved when the physical, life-body, soul and spiritual dimensions of our being are in balance. This requires personal work as we move through our lives. It is not a given or a constant. As the saying goes, “You never step in the same river twice”. So too, we are not the same person from day to day. We go through life and life phases. We all meet challenges and have our pain, successes and joy. This is the human experience in the time of the consciousness soul. This time is ideally a time of awakening, not sleeping or being depressed.
The Consciousness Soul
We’ve entered the age of the consciousness soul. Greater consciousness is a two edged sword. Our past hurts, combined with the darkness of the times, can lead to depression and immobilisation. We can become numb and disenfranchised which can lead us to a disconnection of “the self” from the world or reality. This potential alienation can lead to sickness or ill health (ilth).
Creating a holistic relationship to our past, present and future can lead to more positive outcomes and better health. No wonder “mental health” today is a crucial issue for many.
The physical body
Our body, its major organs and our mind can, and ideally should, synthesise into an organic whole. Sometimes our physical structure and organ functioning needs attention so that the life-body can be a good vehicle for the soul and spirit.
The etheric (life-body) aspect of our individuality
We are the only animal which can flush with embarrassment or anger. Our physical demeanor and color changes when we are not well. Contrary to this we fill with vitality when we are happy and purposeful. Maintaining a healthy life-body provides the soul/spirit nature of our being a good operational platform. Bad habits ideally need to be transformed into better habits and come under the control of the soul.
The astral (soul) aspect of our individuality
Our soul (our thinking, feeling and activity) directly affects the life-body. Equanimity of feeling, concentration of the mind (thinking) and life-filled purposeful activity are all supportive of each other. When we become more conscious of our “higher self” a “conscious compass” is more likely to direct our lives. For every step we take in our spiritual development we need to take three steps in our moral development.
The ego (spiritual) aspect of our individuality
The “higher self”, or “ego” as it is sometimes called, has an innate desire to develop out of darkness and into more light. Individualisation is a requirement of the “consciousness soul” times. It can be a painful, yet rewarding, experience to break free from historical habits, shackles and blood ties. But this needs to happen for the “higher self” to grow. This growth will only occur when people, freely choose to act and heal the past to move into the future with greater clarity and consciousness
